Drops of Jupiter - Train

 

Mi canción de hoy, esa para todo un clásico de la banda estadounidense Train. Posiblemente Drops of Jupiter sea su canción más conocida y la que más rédito le ha dado a la banda de rock alternativo. Incluida en su segundo álbum de estudio, mi canción de hoy da nombre al ese segundo trabajo, Drops of Jupiter lanzado en 2001. El cantante principal, Pat Monahan, decía que la canción fue inspirada tras fallecer su madre, y despertarse pensando 'de vuelta en la atmósfera'. Así fue como se le ocurrió escribir la letra de esta canción, que fue todo un pelotazo, y que me encanta recuperar hoy. Agur ;)

Train es una banda de pop rock estadounidense, de San Francisco, California, formada en 1994. Actualmente, la banda cuenta con un quinteto básico, formado por Patrick Monahan (voz), Luis Maldonado (guitarra), Héctor Maldonado (bajo, voz), Jerry Becker (teclados, guitarra) y Drew Shoals (batería, percusión). Train, alcanzó la fama con su álbum debut, Train, el cual fue lanzado en 1998. Su segundo álbum, Drops of Jupiter (2001), trajo a la banda una masiva popularidad. Su tercer álbum de estudio, My Private Nation, publicado en 2003, continuó el éxito de la banda. Tras la marcha de Hotchkiss y Colin, la banda lanzó su cuarto álbum, For Me, It's You en 2006. A pesar de ser bien recibido por las críticas, el álbum no fue un éxito comercial. Train entonces cesó su actividad durante tres años. A finales de 2009, volviendo a sus raíces, graban Save Me, San Francisco. El álbum fue todo un éxito comercial. Posteriormente han lanzado California 37 (2012); Bulletproof Picasso (2014); Christmas in Tahoe (2015); Train Does Led Zeppelin II (2016): A Girl a Bottle a Boat (2017); y AM Gold (2022).
